OCTOBER 19, 2009 - PHILLIES v. DODGERS
Standing outside of a very cold CBP, October 2009 at the NLCS, wearing a 2008 World Series Ring that belongs to my good friend Bruce, a 20 year employee of the Phils. Phils win 11-0!

SPECIAL EDITION - YO MIKE, WELCOME TO PHILLY?

WELL, IT IS REAL. HE IS HERE, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?, because I can't. But anyway, I am torn on this subject. Here we go...
#1 I AM SHOCKED, and wouldn't have guessed this would happen in a million years. When I heard my cell phone vibrating text after text, I knew something happened. Glad I got off the coach and got it.
#2 I BELIEVE IN 2ND CHANCES. All criminals cannot be redeemed, but they should be given one, ONE, oppurtunity to demonstrate their progress. I think everyone here reading, has been given a 2nd chance in life somewhere along the road. I know I have and I tried to take advantages of them when I can. I believe that people can change, no doubt about it, any AA meeting will prove that to you.
#3 HE HAS DONE HIS TIME AND IS STILL DOING IT. A federal judge who was appointed through Constitutinal principals, has the power to punish people who comes before him as guilty criminals. This judge gave Vick a sentence that was well within sentencing guidelines, in fact on the higher side of the guidelines, including 2 years in a federal prison, a half way house, home confinement and he is currently on probation. If you don't like dogs being slaughtered and strangled( I hear ya) but he did everything what the Judge said to do. The Judge gave him permission to pursue a career. Football is his career. So if you don't like that he gets to pursue a football career, go pickett the Judge's parking spot too. And No I don't think any Federal Judge is star struck or intimidated when Michael Vick walks into his courtroom.

SO I THINK HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FINISH HIS SENTENCE THAT THE JUDGE HAS GIVEN HIM AND GET A SECOND CHANCE TO PURSUE HIS CAREER. WITH THAT BEING SAID....

I JUST WISH IT WASN'T WITH THE EAGLES. I would never have thought the Eagles would want to be associated with this guy. There is alot, alot, of people in Philly who won't condone this dog fighting stuff, and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. But the Eagles always were the "character issues" and "gold standard" team, and you take Vick who is known by the vast majority of people as this terrible and horrific criminal. What happened to the our class? Out the door goes the image of the Eagles as something so positive for the Community and as sport's model franchise (with no championships, of course). Especially after T.O., I see this as further tarnishing the reputation of the Eagles, and moves us much closer to the Raiders, Bengals and Cowboy on the old "Class-O-Meter". I can't ever imagine calling him a "real Eagle", but stranger things have happened.

I WANT HIM TO PURSUE A CAREER BUT JUST WISH HE WASN'T ON THE EAGLES. WITH THAT BEING SAID....
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS OFFENSE. Reid is a football genius for getting this done. Imagine this offense lining up - Westbrook in the right slot, Jackson in 1 slot to the left, Donovan in shotgun and Vick standing right next to him. Imagine the possibilities! We are going to have so much speed out there and so many opitions. What happens when you got a double end around with DJ one way and BWest coming the other way, and Vick staying in the middle. How is a defense going to cover that ground. And all 4 of them can kill in the open field. And we need our receiving corp to take advantage of all the attention the running game is getting.

OK, NOW MY PREDICTION..... I don't see this working out. This is going to be a media circus. There is going to be fan problems, quarterback controversies, protests, a war of words through the press and on and on. Can you imagine Donovan going down (hard to believe, I know) and Michael Vick ends up being the starting quarterback for the Eagles in a Super Bowl? I just hope Lurie, Banner and Reid thought this out, and Tony Dungy (when did he become the highest beacon of integrity all of a sudden? Seems like a good guy, but his public blessings here is ridculous) is right. This is going to be an absolute circus, which is going to make opening day, the Dallas games and this whole season very interesting.
