OCTOBER 19, 2009 - PHILLIES v. DODGERS
Standing outside of a very cold CBP, October 2009 at the NLCS, wearing a 2008 World Series Ring that belongs to my good friend Bruce, a 20 year employee of the Phils. Phils win 11-0!

Who should have been Januarys Graph of the Month?

As a Philly fan, where is your sports focus?

UPDATE

SO SORRY FOR THE LACK OF UPDATES, BUT....

(1) Scanner at home has been down. Mrs Phillygrapher best be shaking her little tail to Staples to pick up the cartridge we need to get it up and running....
AND
(2) Interesting thing happened last weekend, I had the local professional "hobby" expert come over and go through my collection for an appraisal because (a) I'm adding my collection to my homeowners insurance AND (b) I'm installing a state of the art alarm system in my home to protect my collection.... I mean family. For those of you who know my exact profession, you understand why.
So anyway, "Pat" has been our local hobby pro for 25 years, we actually used to be pretty competitive rivals back in the day in running card shows and autograph signings, with guys like Luis Tiant, Ben Coates, Brian Halloway, Jeff Reardon, Mark Belanger and others who had vacation homes around here. Pat still can't believe he spent years with his main competetior not having reached puberty yet. I still remember being 11, and telling Mark Belanger that I wasn't going to pay him, if he didn't start looking like he was enjoying himself. LOL, Always the hustler and businessman. Lucky for Pat, I eventually got distracted for a good bunch of years from the hobby, thanks to college and girls.
Pat has appraised hundreds of collections, and in the middle of going through it all, I asked "well, what do you think?", his answer "I've never seen anything like this in my life, in fact, I didn't know collections like this existed." He was floored when I pulled out boxes and albums full of cards, indexs, photos, pucks, balls, bats, jerseys, mini helmets, postcards, game used equipment, magazines etc... of autographs of past, present and future Philadelphia Phillies, 76ers, Flyers, Eagles, Phantoms, Warriors, A's, College Sports and Native celebrities. I think the quantity is what really got him (ie: 113 signed John LeClair cards or 34 signed Chuck Bednarik photos). We didn't finish going through everything that day but hope to finish it up before the holidays.
It was an interesting expierence and it made me look at the madness in a different light. I really want to focus 2010 on obtaining new autographs and quality items, rather than getting autos, just to get autos. I would like to work on finishing the complete Phillies roster from 1950 - current, as well as a few Eagle team sets. So expect less updates, but hopefully more interesting stuff. I'd be intersted in hearing anyone's thoughts on this....
